"CAMP CHAMP" Summer Camps
TREE House of Greater St. Louis is excited to offer 3 inclusionary summer camp experiences for children ages 5 to 17 with and without disabilities.
Camp Champ is a great blend between therapeutic and recreational activities for your child ages 5 to 13 to learn, grow, make new friends, and learn new and interesting skills! They will get exposure to horses and learn basic riding and horsemanship skills during this camp. What truly sets this camp apart from the rest is that it is run by occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants who are able to provide a more positive inclusionary experience for all. This camp is also designed to have a small camper to staff ratio.
All participants will have hands-on activities with horses, including grooming, tacking, and riding. Campers will have multiple encounters with our horses each day. Campers will also participate in various other activities that will involve music, art, outside play, and we will have special appearances throughout the camp.
The Beginner Horse Camp is for a child aged 8-17 years of age who have prior horse exposure. Participant's will further their riding experience as well as learn more about horsemanship skills. This camp is also for individuals with and without disabilities and will be run by a Certified Riding Instructor.
The Advanced Horse Camp is for individuals between ages 10 and 17 years of age who are advanced riders. The participants should have achieved skills at the walk, trot, and canter level. This camp will focus on advancing horsemanship skills in various areas including Western, English, Hunt/seat experience and may touch on such topics as barrel racing and jumping skills. At TREE House of Greater St. Louis we pride ourselves on having a great facility! We have more than 80 acres to play on that include an indoor and outdoor riding arenas, a sensory trail, riding trails, a pond, and a large multi-purpose room that is air conditioned. All camp activities are “weather permitting” and held at our facility at 332 Stable Lane in Wentzville, MO. Our indoor arena is not air conditioned but we are able to beat the heat most of the time with our two industrial size barn fans. If it does get too hot for even the barn fans to save us we will have various other activities lined up; our horses can always use a good bath.
All camps are open to children with and without disabilities. All children with disabilities who are not currently registered riders in our equine-therapy program may be asked to schedule a pre-camp introductory session at our facility. A $50 non-refundable registration fee, which will be applied to the cost of your first week of camp, is required to hold your slot. Camp size is limited to allow for a low camper to staff ratio.
