Our Volunteer Program
Our volunteers are one of the most critical elements in the successful implementation of our program. Volunteers are the direct link between the instructor’s guidance to the client and the achievement of personal therapy goals with the aid of the horse. Therapeutic Horsemanship relies heavily on over 300 active volunteers each year.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.
Volunteer Roles
We utilize volunteers in a number of different ways at Therapeutic Horsemanship. If you have a specific talent or interest, we would love to find the perfect role for you. Types of Volunteers:
- Program volunteers: Working with clients, horses, and staff as side walkers, leaders, or horse handlers.
- Administrative volunteers: General office work, such as answering the phone, data entry, filing, assisting with projects, etc.
- Barn volunteers: Duties include cleaning stalls, cleaning tack, and participating on Project Days.
- Fundraising volunteers: Assist at a specific event and/or serve on event committees.
- Professional Expertise volunteers: Donate professional expertise, skills and time in specific fields.
- Large Group or Organizational Projects: If you are part of a group who wishes to volunteer, please contact us so we can organize a project for you.
- Young Professionals Board: We are looking for motivated young professionals ages 21 to 40 to help us launch and plan our first year of activities for our new Young Professionals Board. Click here for more details!
